India, as one of the world’s most populous nations, faces significant challenges in poverty alleviation, hunger eradication, and ensuring quality education for all. These interconnected issues impact millions of lives, hindering social and economic progress.
According to the NITI Aayog’s Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) 2023, around 14.96% of India’s population still lives below the poverty line, despite rapid economic growth. While rural poverty rates have declined, urban poverty and income inequality continue to pose challenges.

India ranks 111 out of 125 in the Global Hunger Index (GHI) 2023, indicating serious levels of hunger and malnutrition. Malnutrition remains a critical concern, with 35.5% of children under five suffering from stunting due to inadequate nutrition.

While India’s literacy rate has significantly improved, gender gaps and regional disparities persist. The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 aims to achieve 100% Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) in schooling by 2030. However, dropout rates, inadequate infrastructure, and a lack of skilled teachers remain pressing concerns.
